styclecircle: voices, the book 05 launch
Role: Director of Events
March 5, 2020
Issue 05 of The Book by StyleCircle takes inspiration from political activist, Angela Davis, who continually ignites the conversation of recognizing and challenging discourses that often appear to be the societal norm.
As the Director of Events, I successfully planned and executed the Book No.05 launch with the VP of Operations. Previously, the launch was only a party social event, but I decided to bring some of the editorials to life and create a more immersive experience. I created exhibits, including a voice recording station for people with hearing impairments with three editorials read by the writers and art exhibits bringing to life of editorials such as “Whose Suit?”, “the Afterlife of Clothing”, “Does My Vagina Scare You?”, and “the Myth of Sexual Violence”. I also hired performers, including spoken word poets and dancers, to illustrate a live version of “By Us, For Us” and the issue title “Voices”. We had over 150 guests, the biggest turnout of any launch for StyleCircle.
